Your expectation of something unique and dramatic, of some wonderful explosion, is merely hindering and delaying your self-realisation.
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj
People mistake bliss for self-realisation.
Bliss is connected to serotonin in the brain. It comes and goes.

This pointer is so relevant for seekers who dream of enlightenment as a huge cosmic experience. Swami Mutananda was one guru who promoted this concept. His followers , myself included were addicted to meditation experiences. All experiences are transient and therefore considered to be not-real by a jani like Maharaj. Experiences pass like pictures on a movie scree. There may be huge explosions or exciting sexual scenes or violence on the screen but it all passes. The screen remains untouched and is never effected by the moving pictures. Shift the attention from the movie to the screen and you will understand your true nature , experiences are of no interest or value to a serious seeker.
